Being a Doctor, Gail Barouh is passionate about Healthcare and even holds experience in the counseling field. She was a CEO and President of The Long Island Association for AIDS Care (LIAAC), which is an organization that helps people suffering from HIV/AIDS. Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a Sexually transmitted disease caused by a virus called Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). This virus alters the immune system making the patient more vulnerable to infections and diseases. HIV infection is the root cause of AIDS, However, if the person suffering from this virus is well treated then the Virus can be contracted. Without any treatment, HIV can progress and eventually it will develop into AIDS.

The maintenance norms-  

Health Care basically is maintenance of health by Prevention, diagnosis or Treatment of disease. Different Healthcare organizations are established across worldwide to meet the needs of the targeted populations of the respective countries. Nowadays with increasing no. of diseases, People are becoming more conscious towards their health, which is a positive sign since Healthcare reduces higher risk of accommodation of any sort of disease. Dr. Gail Barouh, The former president of LIAAC, has been working efficiently throughout her life in spreading awareness towards many diseases especially AIDS. She also holds M.A. in Health Education Counseling from Adelphi University and a Ph.D. in Health Administration and Thanatology from the Union University. Dr. Gail, along with 75 other members of the LIAAC organization, had helped more than 1000 Long Islanders suffering from HIV/AIDS.

For a person to be called Healthy, He or She should excel in all the aspects of good health i.e., Physical, Mental, Emotional, Social and Spiritual.  One can maintain a good health by Having a Healthy diet enriched with Vitamins and several required nutrients, Cutting out processed junk food, Drinking plenty of water, Having a good lifestyle along with a healthy mind, Having the right amount of sleep on a daily basis, etc. Social Health is not only necessary for the individual but also benefits the country as a whole.
